There's never a shortage of drama at Nazare. It's all, hellmen, and women, getting slammed by 60ft plus worth of white water, sometimes broken bones, sometimes ending up on the rocks, mostly washed to the beach if you don't make that colossal swing into wave.
And then, sometimes, it is heroic rescue efforts gone awry – such as here, when ski pilot Ramon Laureano hits the gas to pluck stricken Salvador Villas Boas out of the soup. The result? A high speed chase where Mother Nature eventually wins out, in the most spectacular of ways. Both pilot and surfer are fine etc etc, but ain't that a few heart pounding moments? Ouch.
