Last week, Aus' east coast took the full brunt of a swell licking – and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. A whole bunch of the world's best surfers are on the Gold Coast at the moment, competing as part of the Snapper Rocks event – and when the session looks this good, it'll draw out just about everyone for a spot amongst the carnage.
Juan Medina was stationed at Coolangatta for three days of that swell run towards the start of last week. “Waves were epic,” he said, managing to snipe Occy – who lives some 25 minutes away at Bilambil Heights, Mikey Wright, Coco Ho, Brisa Hennessy, Leilani Mcgonagle and more. Here's Juan's run down of the great gathering.

Sierra Kerr recently racked up her first ever WSL win - taking out the Tweed Pro junior. The first of many? You betcha.
Occy's made a whole career out of his backhand.
Havanna Cabrero might not be a name you're familiar with, but this was the 22-year-old, Puerto Rican's first ever surf along these hallowed shores, with turns and energy like this, it's easy to see why she's one to watch.
Sub-sea level foam monster about to engulf an unknown ripper.
Look! It's Mikey Wright...
...who put on a bit of a speed clinic complete with retro fish.
The long shot, Juan Medina knows how to frame his muse.
Sister of Gabe, slayer of everything, Sophia Medina has a competitive streak in her.
...but has been on a tear over the past few years.
Word on the street is, Coco Ho's surfing is looking the most tack sharp in years.
Just another day between the ferns. Or something.
"Yeah, nah, I'm good mate," - maybe.
