It started off tricky and brutal with the line between closeout and makable in the La Graviere shorebreak blurring horrendously. Contest director, Mikey Picon worked hard to put the surfers the right side of that line, eyes glued to the forecast and the huge tidal swings foreshortening any available window.
The end result? A contest combining critical conditions, upsets, dream runs and broken dreams in equal measure.
