What’s in a name? The Grower, located at the thick end of Desert Point is a wonderful looking beast approached by wide-eyed surfers who desire to skate inside its cavernous embrace, but invariably pull out.

Chart hound Jeff Rowley picked a late september bomb swell to do just the opposite.“Thanks for the forecast.” He told us. “That has to be one of the sickest, gnarliest, scariest, shallowest nightmare of a closeout barrels in Indo.”
