NICO von Rupp is a German stroke Portuguese surfer living in Praia Grande, close to Lisbon, Portugal.
He sent us this edit of 2011 weeks ago and we sat on it, then twiddled our thumbs for a while, before finally going for a surf.
“I was blessed with great waves across the world last year.” Reckons Nico. “From Hawaii to Tahiti, everywhere we went Neptune just kept on sending us blessings. I am very grateful for the opportunity I have been given.”
So if you’ve seen it already then apologies. If you haven’t then here’s Nico, he rips. He’s got a ‘sit up and take notice of me’ shralping style which makes our wax itch for the weekend.
Welcome to the plateau. It's where we gather to watch Yago Dora soar above our heads.

Welcome to the winners' podium. The cream of February lies before you in four spectacular Atlantic sessions, big barrels being the theme.
