IN honour of one of the greatest statesmen the world has ever known I would like to run this Robben Island, Freedom Day strike by Jordy Smith, Josh Redman, Ryan Payne, spot pioneer, Ian Armstrong and his son Max.

Madiba was imprisoned on Robben Island for 27 years before being let free and forging the country we are so privileged to live in today. This mission to the wedging left, so aptly timed on Freedom Day, which commemorates the first post-apartheid elections held on that day back in 1994. This left was first surfed 15-years-ago and it’s a tiny tribute to a courageous man that we publish this video on his 95th year and wish him a speedy recovery to good health.

Happy Birthday and Viva Mandela!

Twig

*Many thanks to Zig Zag and Alan van Gysen for organising this mission.
