Boost Mobile Pro pres. by Hurley Champion to be Crowned this Afternoon

SAN CLEMENTE, California (Thursday, September 11, 2008) - There are only nine heats of the Boost Mobile Pro pres. by Hurley remaining and those heats will run in three to five foot swell today. The 2008 event champion will be crowned early this afternoon.

Former event winners Kelly Slater (USA) and Bede Durbidge (AUS) are still in contention, as are rookies Dane Reynolds (USA) and Jordy Smith (ZAF). California’s Bobby Martinez (USA), France’s Jeremy Flores and reigning ASP World Champion Mick Fanning have all made the quarterfinals as well.

The last two heats of Round 4 are up first. Competition will start at 8am. The final, which will be between 35 or 40-minutes in duration, should hit the water at around 12:40pm.
