The region of Ahangama to Mirissa is 9 miles and could be called Sri Lanka’s tribute to Hawaii’s North Shore 7 mile miracle. There are a handful of fun surf spots from lefts, rights, beachies and A-frames. Amongst these breaks you’ll find spots that cater to the beginner and others that serve up waves to satiate an intermediate and even advanced surfer.
We have got Rams right out the front. Its a punchy A frame reef break that works pretty much every single day, even when it is really small. It offers loads of barrels, bowls and ramp sections. Advanced surfers can really have fun out there. If you are not an advanced surfer the view from the terrace provides a great platform to watch and learn and photograph your friends or family while they surf.
Other great surf spots, there are mellow reef breaks perfect for intermediate surfers – they are lazy left, lazy rights, coconuts and plantations. For complete beginners the beach break of Weligama is just a 5 min by tuk tuk jaunt away and is perfect for learning as there are many surf schools and lots of space in this picturesque sandy bay.
We can arrange Surf Guiding, Surf Lessons and Surf Board rental (if you cannot find what you need from our "help yourself" board rack). Just let us know what you need and we will do our best to arrange it!
